PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

STANFORD MANAGEMENT, LLC

A property management company with over 115 employees that oversees 100 affordable housing complexes in four states.

Owner and CEO

  • Significantly grew company’s affordable housing portfolio. Procured 32% of the Department of Agriculture’s Multi-family Revitalization Program funds to enable debt restructuring and capital investment of properties. This was more than any other property manager nationwide.
  • Worked closely and creatively with state agencies to secure tax credits, with large financing institutions for conventional debt, and with institutional investors (such as Chevron, Lehman Brothers, Sun America) for additional financing through the use of tax credits.
  • Company was recognized as one of the “Top 10 Affordable Housing Managers” nationwide by Affordable Housing Magazine in 2007.
  • Restructured company and built a senior management team to run the day to day operations of the company.

ROSA FOR MAINE

Start-up Democratic primary campaign for Governor of Maine that garnered the fourth most votes of 11 candidates in both parties. Finished less than one percentage point from second place on the Democratic side against three seasoned candidates who all formerly held political office.

Candidate for Governor of Maine

  • Entered the race with little name recognition and no political base. Assembled a first-class team of professionals, political newcomers and volunteers who ran a successful grassroots campaign that engaged a statewide constituency of voters from a broad variety of backgrounds.
  • Wrote a comprehensive policy book titled Maine Rising detailing a plan for creating 50,000 jobs in 10 years and moving Maine forward.
  • Campaign platform centered on non-partisan, common sense solutions to ensure government efficiency, create jobs and invest in education.
  • Founded, built company from scratch, and merged it into Stanford Management in 2005.
  • Built a sustainable competitive infrastructure. Created systems to re-price insurance and to re-bid vendors.
  • Procured $575 million of Federal assistance funds through government awards in highly competitive programs.
  • Negotiated the sale of partnership interests. Managed investor relations with a variety of limited partners, including Fortune 500 companies.
  • Managed a variety of projects including suburban new construction, historic renovation, and inner-city redevelopment using complex Federal, State and local entitlement programs.
  • Acted as project manager for the development of over 500 units of affordable housing and commercial space in three states.
  • Coordinated the development of Farmers Home Administration Section 515 Rural rental Housing projects in Maine and Pennsylvania.
